VISION AND ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD, is a common term used to describe children who exhibit behaviors of impulsivity, hyperactivity, and distractibility.  Certain undetected and untreated vision issues can show some of the very same symptoms that are commonly attributed to ADHA.  Due to these similarities, some children that have vision problems are mislabeled as having ADHA.  Research from the College of Optometrists in Vison Development has show that around 25% of school age children may have a vision problem that can affect learning and can lead to behavior problems.

HEALTH-RELATED CAUSES OF LOW WTUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

Those with vision problems have difficulty reading.  In the United States, 50% of poor children have vision impairment that interferes with academic work which is twice the normal rate.
