Data from the 2015 to 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health found that more adolescents and young adults reported having depression in 2020, highlighting that 9.2% of Americans ages 12 and older experienced a past-year major depressive episode. They also noted that depression increased most rapidly among adolescents and young adults and increased among nearly all sex, racial/ethnic, income and education groups.

The CDC released consolidated, evidence-based guidance for preventing the spread of infection in K-12 schools. It includes everyday actions that schools can take to prevent and control the spread of repiratory and stomach viruses. Some of the strategies include:
1. Teach and reinforce proper hand washing and respiratory etiquette.
2. Takes steps for cleaner air and improving ventilation in schools.
3. Clean, sanitize, and disinfect, when apporpriate
4. Promote vaccinations afor students and staff
5. Have staff and students stay home when they are sick.
